Saint-Pierre is a commune in the French overseas department of Martinique.
The city of St. Pierre was founded in 1635 by Pierre Belain d’Esnambuc. It was the commercial capital of Martinique until 1902. We can stroll through its pretty streets and swim at its beaches.

Portsmouth was previous the capital. With 2977 inhabitants, it is the second largest city on Dominica. It is located on the Indian River in the north of the island, and is part of Saint John Parish. We can visit this marvellous river with its Amazonian landscape after mooring the boat in the Portsmouth port.

Cabrits National Park is on Portsmouth. This park protects the tropical forests, coral reefs, and wetlands. Initially, in 1760, it was the capital of Dominica, but after the malaria outbreak that same year, it was changed to Roseau.
